112.07.2025OwenEdwards9.0Excellent, and a whisker away - a few more minutes at the end away - from real all-time classic status. Kawada and Taue don't like the outsiders and want to hurt them, but it turns out that that the outsiders are both brilliant and increasingly have the crowd behind them. Loads of lovely tag spots, naturally, and tonnes of nice-looking stuff, but the storytelling brings this another level. Hayabusa is so exciting, but Shnzaki is nearly as electric and, even more so, is credible and a good actor. He stands toe-to-toe with two Triple Crown champions and fights his way back in to this. The nearfalls are credible and exciting, and the crowd is wild for them. In an alternate timeline Hayabusa puts a lot more time into AJPW and these two get much more than one tag title run. 4.5/5

826.04.2025FelipeTalksGraps9.0[4.5*] Absolutely phenomenal match, one of my favorite Tag Team matches ever. The clash of styles here was so much fun, Hayabusa and Shinzaki came from FMW and instantly got over with the AJPW crowd that popped for everything they did. I loved how the match started with a great showcase, then developed the heat at the mid-stretch and finally had the explosive ending stretch with all the crazy nearfalls. I loved pretty much everything about this match and Hayabusa completely stole the show with an impeccable performance. Incredible back-and-forth with a fucking hot crowd, it doesn't get much better than this.
902.04.2025danzitorock9.0Very interesting match by essence, you had the greatest tag team of King's Road, the famous Holy Demon Army, against Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki, a tag team from FMW, so it's a very rare interpromotional battle, and what a battle it was, incredibly fun, the mix of styles worked out extremely well. Hayabusa and Jinsei are guys with a very flashy style, their pace is naturally faster than big heavyweights like Taue and Kawada, and that's why it's so interesting, because it's a clash of wrestling philosophies, and just like it happens with every talented pair of wrestlers, the chemistry was fantastic. The crowd was very hot during the entire match, and they were also obviously very interested about the experience, they chanted for everybody, including the FMW lads, who had the vast majority of actions and were able to shine and show what they can do. After a super thrilling ending stretch, Kawada hit Jinsei with an insane lariat, and the kickout happened, that was a great nearfall, but right after Kawada won the match, a very connective and enjoyable showcase - {****1/4}

1507.12.2024arrancar7.0Not quite the amazing meeting of two different worlds that it could've been but still thoroughly exciting and a very good showing by all 4 guys. Both Hayabusa and Shinzaki impressed with their early highlight spots, with Kawada and Taue doing very well as the bitter and stiff-hitting heels cutting them off soon after they'd "got their stuff in". Hayabusa and Shinzaki's tag-team offence was quite cool, as their individual styles were always distinctively highlighted and flashy in their own ways. Kawada getting more and more pissed of at Hayabusa's resilience was great, leading to some of his trademark intense strikes and general brutality. Taue also impressed as the giant bruiser with his array of slow but still painful-looking attacking. Like with their opponents, Kawada and Taue's tag offence was of course also very good, with both guys doing well to complement and differentiate from each other. With the way this match was structured, however, they didn't get to show off as much tag offence as their opponents, and for the design of this match, that was probably for the best. Hayabusa's face-in-peril segment felt pretty long but I was surprised to go back and see it was only maybe 5 minutes, which speaks to how well Kawada, Taue, and Hayabusa pulled it off to make it feel like Hayabusa had been suffering for twice as long. Special mention should go to Hayabusa's strong selling, which is alway extra impressive when you have 2/3rds of your face covered with a mask. His and Shinzaki's comeback, taking out both Taue and Kawada, was quite cathartic afterwards, and at that point the match had became more 50/50 and faster paced, with the near falls becoming more and more convincing (and thus more exciting) the longer Hayabusa and Shinzaki chained together their various slick tag-team attacks. Quite a few cool cut-offs and well-timed run-ins were traded back and forth at this point, though they maybe did become a bit repetitive in how similarly they were set-up and performed, receiving diminishing returns in terms of crowd reactions as they continued, but they were still really fun. Kawada's various big moves on Shinzaki at the end were especially awesome, featuring equal parts flash and intensity (his series of enzuigiris were great). I wouldn't have minded another 10 minutes of this, even if that meant that match having to 'cool down' for some of that before picking up again, but I still definitely recommend this just for how much action was packed into less than 20 minutes. ***3/4

2105.08.2024Zak229.0The first half is good but not great, and there are some sloppy moments through out. BUT the second half contains some of the best tag wrestling caught on film. Everyone does a great job but this is the Hayabusa and Shinzaki show... some of the highflying tag work from them is pure artistry. Good stuff, just scrapes a 9 purely for the girl who marks out every time Hayabusa or Shinzaki do anything.

2307.07.2024JohnAbbaRiley8.0Spectacular match. Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki have an amazing performance with probably the tag team of the 90s in Holy Demon Army. Very nice back and forth with an extremely hot final 8 to 10 minutes. An incredible match and one that feels big time with the talent involved. 3.75/5 Stars

3028.03.2024ISimon19129.0The clash of styles is wonderful in this match, the dynamics that Hayabusa and Shinzaki bring to this match is incredible, a delicious mix to see between the fast paced and high-flying moves of FMW against the most violent and cold-blooded tag in the entire King's Road, incredible crowd, incredible atmosphere and one of my favorite matches of 1997 (****3/4)

3217.03.2024Bren09.0[4.75*] Great match, the crowd was incredibly hot here. Hayabusa & Shinzaki's performance was phenomenal, their style was wonderful to watch, the final stretch of the match and the sequences they did were perfect, Shinzaki & Hayabusa's Superkick+ Suplex sequence and Hayabusa's 450 Splash were great moves. Good. The final exchanges between Shinzaki and Kawada were excellent with both doing a Kawada Driver but Kawada taking the advantage and winning the match in the end, a wonderful Tag match with a unique dynamic that only Peak AJPW can do.

5308.07.2023Makai Club 8.0Hayabusa time and time again always seems to underwhelm and not deliver, in All Japan or FMW, but he does click in this match, as does Shinzaki, who together are the crowd favourites for this smarky crowd who was firmly behind the independent team. In a fun way, Kawada and Taue react to both the crowd and the opponents, playing up the heelish side of their characters, which they are easily capable of. Some of the more interesting aspect of the match was Taue and Kawada being very hesitant to let Shinzaki do his rope walking taunt/move, which is likely based on real life thoughts, but I found that they played into it in a fun and interesting way that allowed them not to do the move while putting it over as a move to be reckoned with. The match doesnt stray too long in its closing stretch, allowing Team Indie to get a few nearfalls that the crowd bye into before HDA finishes them off. ****

5803.03.2023ChrisPrattAsMario10.0One of the more underrated AJPW tag matches. Two teams with completely different styles of wrestling really adds to this match and its structure. Great striking from Kawada and Taue, the flashy high flying of Hayabusa and Shinzaki, and a hot crowd excels this match above the Misawa and Akiyama match that Hayabusa and Jinsei would have days later.

6309.11.2022munrapido310.0Clash of styles. It is fascinating to see Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki to get so much pop in AJPW's very old school atmosphere. You got Kawada and Taue's realistic strikes and submissions from the King's Road formula with Hayabusa and Shinzaki providing the innovating, high-flying spots to add into the mix. This was really fun to watch, i love it.

6612.09.2022Mizzle Assault Ant10.0This is actually my favorite AJPW match of 1997, the perfect clash of styles and something to switch Kawada and Taue out of the Kings Road formula and adapt to something unexpected and innovative. Absolutely tremendous, I loved this.

7520.12.2021benny5bellys10.0God damn, this match is amazing. Such a clash of styles and it is so awesome seeing Hayabusa and Shinzaki in an All Japan ring. Judging by how Kawada and Taue tried to kick and chop them into next week, they may have been less excited. The crowd are loud, real LOUD and go crazy for the outsiders especially when Shinzaki tries to go for his rope walk. Loved it. A full ***** from me

7926.03.2021pierreMinne9.0This match was enormous, Hayabusa and Kawada had an incredible exchange at the beginning of the match, Kawada puts Larriats and Chops that were incredible, Taue was very good too but the MVP to me is just Kawada, he is one of the bests I have ever seen. Another fantastic performance by him. ****1/4

The holy demon army are just such assholes and Hayabusa is the most sympathetic baby face just getting brutalized and his buddy Jinsei Shinzaki being the badass back up. Now let? s get back to the moves they? re awesome everyone finds a good place for all the shit you wanna see without just throwing a billion moves for no reason.

8725.03.2020Dragon Fighter8.0Very good overall. Hayabusa and Shinzaki did their usual fippy stuff, which got over well with the crowd. Kawada and Taue played their own roles as usual, which was also good. Crowd was behind the high flyers and wanted them to win. The near falls were nice, too. Easy to watch.

9216.02.2019RatingsMachine7.0Despite there being some rough spots, this did turn into a really good match, although those rough spots did make it abundantly clear who the superior workers were.
9307.02.2019trinidadchainz10.0This is easily one of the greatest matches I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful. Star for is Shinzaki here, there is crowd noise then there is CROWD NOISE, the crowd were behind Shinzaki so much and he gave them good reason to be, Hayabusa was his normal amazing self and the heel-y Taue and Kawada, my GOODNESS IT WAS PERFECT. *****
