| 22.05.2024 | Perry Saturn | 10.0 | I'm a bit surprised to see the quite moderate ratings this match has received because I was completely engaged in this match for the entire hour, which is unusual for me as I generally find this format quite dull. I thought the planning of the match was spot on, the vicious spots were well timed and provided hooks throughout the match that were effective in holding attention and the unexpected ways. The difficulty with ironman matches is that they can become predictable as the audience knows that the score will eventually be evened up to build drama before the ending. However, the unexpected ways in which the falls were kept things interesting. |

| 12.05.2024 | DOUKI4CHAMP | 6.0 | Going into this, I think everyone is kind of skeptical about these guys being able to keep the match going. With 60 minutes, the beginning is always going to be worked slowly to save the more dramatic moments for later. The entire segment up to the first fall was really dull, though; there was a lot of crowd play, drinking water, and grappling that never added much, eventually ending with a flash pinfall. It starts to pick up from there as both guys get some extended control sequences and take big bumps (Janela in particular). The crowd was into this match the whole length, supporting the hometown Wayne, so at least the atmosphere helped. Don't get me wrong this was a good match, but the stipulation didn't add much and a lot of the falls felt unsatisfying to me. ***1/4 |
| 11.05.2024 | ParkwayDriver | 8.0 | An ambitious match that moved along pretty well and the crowd was into. Both took some rough falls with Janelas back looking very rough by the time it was all over. Some of the quick pinfalls back to back did not work the most for me but the way Wayne won at the end was an ultimately satisfying ending. Janelas post match comments about a rematch in AEW were interesting. 7.5-8 |
| 11.05.2024 | TayKZY | 4.0 | Very just OK Ironman match. Joey was very slow and plodding throughout like he was a 55 year old vet. So for the first 40 minutes or so nothing really happened. Nick Wayne had to really carry this, and that's a huge task for a 19 year old in a 60 minute match. Once they did the Spanish Fly and Janela screwed his back up the match turned up a gear. The final 20 minutes was very solid, probably a 7 or 8 out of 10. Problem is that was only 33% of the match. Enjoyed the ambitious attempt this was, but an Ironman match is a tough match to work, and you need 2 endurance monsters to keep it engaging throughout. I don't think that suits Janela's style or skill set at all. |
