[8.0] "Jay Youngblood is best remembered as a tag team specialist who had a great tag team run alongside Ricky Steamboat during the latter's formative years. He and Steamboat captured the NWA World Tag Title five times, and held several other titles (Youngblood also tagged and held titles with other partners, including his brother Mark). He had a strong, athletic skill set and he and Steamboat put on some fantastic tag team performances. Unfortunately, Youngblood's career and life were cut short when he was only 30 - had he lived, there's every possibility that he'd be known today as a great legend just like Steamboat."

[9.0] "Very enjoyable late 70's/early 80's babyface! First things first, his interviews lacked skill, completely void of a "professional's take" - this actually benefitted him in my estimation, he came off as real. Really, REAL. A nervous kid, who somehow found himself rather successful in a business full of bully men. In the ring he had absolute assurance beyond his years. Marvelous grasp on pacing, psychology and connected with the audience the way few could. Was a crucial element in Mid Atlantic's early 80's. While his peak was the team with Ricky Steamboat, I think had he lived he would have had a very enjoyable career overall. Best of the Youngblood/Romero family. While he wrestled superbly as a baby face, I feel there was tremendous heel potential; had he ever chosen that path. Passed away at the age of 30 (wow...), I could only begin to fathom what kind of asset he would have been (in and out of the ring) in say 89-91. As a final note - he looked like one of my friends, completely different hair style though. So sure, there are some extra personal points based upon that. 8.5 rounded up."

Great as a tag team specialists with Ricky Steamboat and his brother Mark. He was best remember with Steamboat. His moves were exciting. he reminded me of Steamboat!"

[7.0] "had a chance to watch his 1984 run in mid atlantic recently on wwe network... and its certainly competent wrestling. he was saddled with his brother as a partner which is a huge step down from from ricky steamboat. also no feud that can compare to sgt slaughter on the other side of the ring I just... cant get behind the idea of him higher than a 7. his interviews/promos were average at best. he wasnt any wiz with his moves or athletic. and his overall passion in the ring didnt stand out either. I know he had a high point in his career that I missed but hes 30 in this run im watching which should be his peak and hes coming across like a rather average mid card act. he died young... and I guess that helps people remember you better. maybe he could have been an important part of the future had he gone on, but I really dont see him as more than a native version of brad Armstrong here"

He and Ricky Steamboat were a rival to Ric Flair and Greg Valentine. Youngblood was exciting to watch, good skills and endurance was tough to beat. Time was short."

R. I. P. Jay Youngblood!"
