3 | 17.05.2025 | seffers | 9.0 | "What I'd like to have right now is for all you fat, out of shape, Cagematch sweathogs to keep the comments down while I write my review and show all the smarks what a real wrestler is supposed to look like." There is no such thing as the perfect wrestler, and that's why I don't give 10's. But there are a few wrestlers who make me seriously consider breaking my own rule and giving them a 10 anyway, and Rick Rude is absolutely one of them. Hell, he may even be the poster child. The look. The size. The charisma. The promos. The work rate. The legitimate bad ass-ery. The personal integrity. The "It Factor". Rude had it all. He had every single piece of the puzzle AND knew how to put them together, even though he could've skated by on only 3 or 4 and still been a legend. Sure, he was pretty much locked into being a lifer heel since his gimmick wouldn't have worked as a face (though, to be fair, the women in the crowd would always pop big for his entrance and the ever-present, pre-match "sweathogs" promo/flexing/hip swiveling, which just made the gimmick even better), but his heel work was incredible. Dude was an absolute HEAT MAGNET during the 80's, and even in the 90's (even when he had stopped wrestling due to an unfortunate injury (or, technically, due to his Lloyd's of London insurance policy) suffered in a match with Sting -- dude basically broke his back and *still wrestled the match to the intended ending*) -- he was still getting legitimate heat, even though "cool heels" (which Rude was absolutely a forerunner of) were getting cheered at the time. The man passed away at the WAY WAY WAY too young age of 40, but think of all he accomplished in his sadly short career: from spray painting Jake the Snake's then-wife on his tights (over his dick, naturally), to a very underrated feud with the Ultimate Warrior (IMO, the only truly watchable Warrior angles were him squashing Honky, the face vs. face match with Hogan, and the feud with Rude), to a great WCW debut, to his "real world champion" angle (which always gets overlooked)... hell, the was a part of one of the most infamous angles in the Monday Night Wars, when he infamously appeared on RAW (with a full beard) and Nitro (with a mustache, stroking his freshly shaved chin, subtly digging at WWF for being pre-taped) on the same night. And to cap it off, why did he seemingly randomly decide to show up in the WCW? Because he had so much personal integrity as a human being that he quit WWF in disgust of the Montreal Screwjob in solidarity with Bret. What a dude. I really wish we'd have gotten another two decades of Rude. Hell, if he was still alive, he may well have still been managing or doing commentary to this day. In summary, while I don't think there is one single GOAT in pro wrestling, there are absolutely a good dozen or so that I'd consider to be co-GOATs and Rude is absolutely one of them. Now, hit the music! |

10 | 12.01.2025 | Wangler | 9.0 | A man so devastatingly self assured he had his own face emblazoned over his cock & balls on his trunks. Not a trace of conceit, this was mesmerising confidence. Legendary heel perfectly capable in the ring and took his well warranted beatings like the Adonis he was. He elicited more rage, and probably deeply repressed envy, in a couple sentences and hip gyrations than most can in a 20 minute promo. They simply don't make 'em like RR any more and another gone much. much too soon. |

12 | 21.12.2024 | Isyys | | Anything that can be said about Rude would be an understatement. A physique that would make Zeus jealous, Charisma that few can match, and amazing in-ring prowess all combine to make a performer that deserves his place in wrestling history as one of the best to ever do it. |
13 | 27.11.2024 | jrn19 | 8.0 | A master of getting a lot out of the fundamentals, watching Rude gives you an appreciation for what you can achieve by having terrific crowd control, being a great bumper but also a great seller, and having the right sense of timing both on the delivery of moves and on when to pick things up in a match or slow them down. Through all of this, his matches always seemed to have the people with them, and always seemed to escalate in the closing stretches and provide tremendous drama. He understood both how making himself and his character protected and looking good could enhance his opponent, as he was always reliable in his bumping and feeding for them. An iconic figure of the golden age of the 80s, Rude's work stands up as well beyond how identifiable his gimmick was. |

17 | 12.08.2024 | igskillfart | 7.0 | Rick Rude is very mixed for me, he can be SOOO good at what he does, his character, in ring work, and his promos are some of the best this buisness has seen, with that being said. he can be boring some times, his pre promo before matches are funny and so awesome. He can have great matches with the likes of Steamboat, Warrior, and Sting, but some of his matches are boring, he slows down matches and the pacing is trash, i get he had classics with Chono and Steamboat, those were fantastic matches, but Rudes moveset is i wouldnt say limited, just not the best, but to be fair he was a powerhouse and a hardhitter, he can be great at times and boring at times. |

31 | 26.01.2024 | Conquistador37 | 10.0 | Before I go into greater detail I will note that not only did the man show up on RAW and Nitro the same night but he did the same in the 80's! On Oct 11 1986, he showed up on not only NWA Pro & World Championship Wrestling, but ALSO on World Class Championship Wrestling from Dallas. I think it's absolutely tremendous he was able to achieve this! I watched almost his entire career from it's inception but I have been pleasantly surprised to find out he started as enhancement talent/doing jobs as early as 1982! I first saw Rude when he got his big break in World Class, being their inaugural "world" Champion while under the management of Percy "Paul Bearer" Pringle. During his tenure in WCCW, he was one of the only enjoyable things about the territory. I loved his "Smooth Operator" entrance theme - sooo fitting! He then moved onto Crockett where he quickly established himself as one of the hottest prospects in all of American wrestling, his tag team with Manny Fernandez was excellent! It didn't take long to find himself in the WWF. A high profile and unforgettable feud with Jake Roberts (still one of my all time faves) helped skyrocket his career. Dragged the absolute best out of The Ultimate Warrior; a long history dating back to Dallas days, he was Warrior's best foe there as well. In my estimation, he was one of the most important figures in the WWF golden era and helped elevate the company far more than most give him credit for - him leaving was a monumental blow. Rude helped elevate WCW! He was exactly what that company needed and he flourished in the role as their #1 heel. He was Sting's best opponent next to Ric Flair. I, like many deeply enjoyed The Dangerous Alliance. An assortment of pure gold can be found in his WCW material! Unfortunately his in ring career was cut short and he passed away before his big comeback. Must be noted that he had remarkable chemistry with Ricky Steamboat and Dustin Rhodes on top of others mentioned. I would be remiss if I went without mentioning his way of taking back body drops and selling atomic drops (you *know* what I'm talking about! ). More? Sure! Extreme and absolute confidence in his mic skills, had a knack for making enhancement/squash matches far more entertaining than most. Had an iconic look. flaws? sometimes the camel clutch/electric chair spot seemed way too shoe horned in, that's it - that's the only flaw. We love Ravishing Rick Rude! I wish I could rate him higher. |

He also had great mic skills and off the charts charisma. Feuded with all the top faces of his time and the matches were always good. |

Thankfully he had a career resurgence in WCW and I would argue he was allowed to act more badass. He won that stupid "International" title but never got the real WCW title. I kinda doubt he would have gotten the WCW title because within weeks of his injury, Hogan was on his way to WCW so he probably would have spent the remainder of his years being a contender. |

He sounded natural, like he was actually telling the truth. 3: He was the most hateable heel of all time (in my opinion). Bro put his opponents wife on his trunks. I'm surprised they even let him do that. |

62 | 05.12.2022 | PunkPariah | 9.0 | Tragic he had to retire when he did because the Monday Night Wars might've been a hell of a lot different with someone like Rude in the mix. Top tier heel who could work any crowd, solid worker, and a unique look combined into one of the biggest what ifs in pro wrestling history. Dude literally air brushed his opponents wives face onto the crotch of his gear. That's next level hater shit. |

His WCW work was excellent. Holds victories over some of the all time greats. Got injured and was forced to retire too early. |
97 | 20.07.2020 | ElPolloLoco | 9.0 | One of the best heels of all times together with Adrian Street and Jake Roberts: he could get any crowd to hate him in under five minutes without laying his hands on the local babyface. He had a tremendous understanding of crowd psychology and wasn't half bad as an in-ring worker. Unfortunately he was forced to retire just as he was reaching his peak and his managerial career was a dud. An extra point because he didn't like play politics (read: kiss Hogan's feet) and was ready to put his career on the line for it. |
98 | 12.06.2020 | Khalid Ace | 4.0 | He retired a year before I was born so I had to go back & watch his work since I've heard so much about him. He seems very charismatic & has a great personality but some of his matches were terrible . |
99 | 30.03.2020 | Ma Stump Puller | 9.0 | Talk about underrated. Rude may have had a pretty lackluster WWF run (barring his Ultimate Warrior feud) but don't let that drag down his amazing performances in WCW. Great look, able to get strong heel heat from any crowd, and could wrestle pretty well to boot. Strong physical presence and looked like a legit threat to the main event guys at the time. Was a shame that he got badly injured considering he showed no signs of slowing down. |
