122.05.2025Tex Rex5.0My Rating: 5.2 I found Ernest "The Cat" Miller interesting when he was promoted as the 3 time world karate champion. Which apparently is a true fact. His later more characteristic run is almost like a whole different person. On WWE he had one of the best theme songs "Somebody Call My Mama" but unfortunately his run was extremely short. But the theme song was used later on another wrestler. More about that on another time. All in all. Pretty decent wrestler and he did a great job acting in the Wrestler movie.
211.05.2025bherbert19807.0Ernest Miller was not a great wrestler, but he was absolutely a character people remembered. Coming into WCW with a legit martial arts background and a ton of confidence, Miller stood out right away. He could talk, he had a look, and his promos were pure gold. Telling crowds he was the greatest and daring them to disagree was classic heel material. That natural swagger made him fun to watch, even when the matches didn't deliver. In the ring, Miller was limited. His offense looked fine in short bursts, and he had some good strikes, but he didn't have the ring psychology or flow to work long matches. WCW kept him mostly in the midcard where he could shine with short promos and quick segments, and that was the right move. Once he got in with longer matches or feuds that needed more substance, the cracks started to show. Still, he was entertaining. Whether it was calling himself the "greatest" or bringing out James Brown during a pay-per-view, Miller leaned into the ridiculous and often made it work. He later had a short run in WWE that went nowhere, but the WCW days are what fans remember. He was a product of a chaotic company that knew how to spotlight big personalities, and he fit that era well. The Cat had charisma for days and could talk his way into relevance, but the in-ring game never caught up. He was fun to watch in small doses but never hit that next level as a serious wrestler or lasting star.
309.03.2025IsThisWrestling7.0Broke into wrestling later than most, yet still displayed unique ability and remarkable charisma. In a less doomed promotion, I think he could have developed into a great talent. If you take a look at his early matches in the promotion, he brought something to the table that was different that anybody else on the roster. I wonder what he could have become in a more coherent time in wrestling.
421.01.2025mizzysha8.0The Cat is so fucking underrated, more so than anyone in WCW's vast alumni of underrated and underutilized performers. As someone below me pointed out, he was easily one of the best things about the company during its dying years and was practically its only other saving grace aside from Booker T come the year 2000 when they made him commissioner. His ring work wasn't bad although it wasn't much to write home about, but once they figured out how golden Ernest's persona was it didn't matter. Give this shit talking, karate kicking loud mouth a wrestler to make fun of, a crowd to reprimand and some dancing shoes and watch him put on a clinic. Some of the funniest pro wrestling segments of all time under his belt too.

710.09.2024maven lover3.0Yiiikes! Truly "we have Norman Smiley at home" vibes. Just the worst in ring, super unfunny, & pretty much the only thing keeping me from rating a 2 is that he knows karate & is something of an IRL badass, but that's about it. My most recent experience with "The Cat" was when he dropped in for a guest appearance on TNA, & he struggled to even remain very funny in the presence of an authority-figure Santino Marella, so that's all you kind of need to know.
801.08.2024mxkami0.0This man has absolutely undeserved ego inflation issues. Why he was booked so well in WCW and went over the people he did in some of the worst matches in the company's history, I will never understand. He couldn't work, his gimmick was f****** awful, his segments with the likes of Jung Dragons were awful, his mic skills were awful (I'm sorry, but for me, talking an endless stream of s*** does not make you good on the stick). Legit boils my blood if I'm watching something back, forget he's on it, and he pops up.

1210.12.2023Conquistador374.0I liked the schtick and tomfoolery in WCW, I even called his hotline a few times for the s#its & giggles of it all. But like many things in wrestling history; once Vince touched it, into just the s#its it became. I fast forward past his WWE stuff, the hype man is especially grating and go away heat. I like the WCW stuff (guilty pleasure) but I wish anyone the best of luck trying to enjoy the McMahonland material. With all of that being said, Great music and catch phrase, 3.5 (If he never went to the 'E, we would easily double the score),

1425.11.2023kewf19884.0Ernest Miller was a very good mic worker and extremely charismatic, but inside the ring, he was extremely basic with his moveset consisting of various variations of kicks, without being able to tell a compelling story in the ring at all. If he had even decent ring skills, he probably could have, and should have, been a world champion as his mic skills and charisma were major strengths.

1625.10.2023benny5bellys6.0You don't ever want to watch a match go longer than 5 minutes but I did not mind Ernest Miller. His timing was often very off so you occasionally got him just murdering people with his kicks which was always absolutely great fun. His promos were often pretty entertaining.

2105.06.2023Giantfan19803.0Never liked this guy. Very basic and limited in the ring and while he could talk trash, he couldn't really back it up. Spent his time feuding with lower mid card guys and then they turned him into the WCW commissioner when the place was slowly dying.
2214.05.2023tigerleonardo The Cat fand ich damals sehr unterhaltsam.
2314.05.2023Cyclopz0077.0His mic work and charismatic character can overcome any technical in-ring shortcomings. Never a dull moment when the Cat comes calling!

2503.05.2023face painted legend8.0One of the true gems of the dying years of WCW (1999-2001). When they let him go out to the ring, be himself, trash talk all the fans, bust whoever he was working withs balls with insults, and do his dancing shtick, that was some of the most entertaining stuff on television. the magic to it was it wasn't necessarily what he did or said, it was how he done and said it, and that it was mostly true -- He really was a 3x world karate champion, the love of James Brown music was a real thing, if it came to a shoot, he more than likely could whoop anyone in the arena that night, and his mama loved watching him perform and do good. So how he's only rated in the 3's is beyond me. I guess a lot of the folks on here are rating him on his wrestling ability and not as an overall performer. Cause he's at least a 7 or better in that respect.

3105.09.2021Pete Gallows7.0For a guy with 0 pro wrestling background, who just came straight to WCW, straight on TV, with very little training after being a kids karate trainer, he did remarkably well. I don? t think he was worse in the ring than many career wrestlers, which of course in itself does not qualify him for a 7, but again, for a guy who just walked in from nowhere onto a nationwide and worldwide tv screens, he showed a lot of charisma, as if he was born to be an entertainer of some sort. He had more personality, than 90% of the locker room and I do not even consider myself a big fan of his - just respect his abilities. Imagine if he had years of proper training, he could have been huge.
3230.08.2021Firebird222.0
3323.06.2021Daigotsu3.0I liked his theme music, so there's that. Otherwise he wasn't much in the ring or on the mic. Him being pushed so much was really strange.
3422.04.2021mjp283.0
3519.04.2021AnB2.0Proof that a three-time karate world champion doesn't give you a leg up in professional wrestling. Okay on the mic, but abysmal in the ring. Thankfully his in-ring career was relatively short.

3918.08.2020Ma Stump Puller3.0Just terrible. At least Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman could work, even to a decent degree, and looked like they'd legit kill someone. Ernest was skinny and lanky, and looked sloppy and untrained in the ring. His promos were ok, but they'd be a lead to his matches, which reduces them way down. Thankfully he wasn't in the business for that long.

4601.08.2019DanTalksRasslin4.0Ernest "The Cat" Miller had plenty of legit karate skills, but wasn't quite able to pick up the wrestling side of his skill set. He was very charismatic and entertaining on the mic, though, and that helped offset some of his shortcomings in the ring. His role as on-air commissioner of WCW was certainly not one of the worst parts of the company in its late era. Miller also had some legitimate acting chops, as shown by his major role in 2008's "The Wrestler. "
4728.07.2019KyleEnjoysWrestling3.0A legit karate guy, I remember Ernest first coming in & I thought he would be really excellent. He quickly proved that his wrestling skills were not on the same page as his karate ones. He then saddled himself with the goofy "someone call my mama" schtick.

Alles in Allem somit 2 Punkte.

5226.09.2018RatingsMachine0.0Ernest Miller was an abysmal wrestler, a horrible talker, and completely delusional about his talent.
5313.06.2018cpatchj6.0Not a good wrestler but charasmatic and really entertaining. Somebody call my momma cause I'm about to whoop someone!
5401.06.2018InactiveGuru5.0Honestly I don't think he was all that bad, he was always semi-entertaining on the mic and his in ring work wasn't awful. Not a bad lower/mid level heel at all.
5525.01.2018jcb96.0Not sure why MIller's rating is so low here. He wasn't anything great, but he was a solid, entertaining midcard performer when booked effectively.

5908.11.2016Resident8.01, 2, 3, 4, doo doo I am the greatest. Sure he stole some of his catchphrases from Muhammad Ali and was not the greatest technical wrestler. Butnhe was always very entertaining. To me he was great on the mic and quite charismatic and he was fun to watch dance. He was also decent in the ring, not great, but not bad.
6110.08.2016Sonny Black7.0Ich fand The Cat Ernest Miller in der WCW echt gut.
6230.07.2016Devitciiu6.0Miller was a solid wrestler and great on the mic. I've heard he's a douche but then again I've heard that about a lot of wrestlers.

Einer meiner all time fav momente der WWE Geschichte.

7624.02.2014Phenomenal916.0Not a great wrestler by any means (his repertoire consisted mainly of karate kicks), but his rating is high because he was always entertaining. A top notch talker with excellent charisma. You have to respect that.
